News & Stories
Active Wisconsin connects communities and partners that represent the diverse needs of the entire state. The local coalition members and network partners that make up Active Wisconsin are dedicated to making it easier for people to walk, bike and be active, through local and state-level advocacy and resource-sharing. Join the network.

Our work is centered around equitable and sustainable active transportation solutions. We advocate for local and state Complete Streets policies; work for increased transit, bike, and pedestrian infrastructure funding; and encourage communities to start Safe Routes to School Programs. We also show how active transportation infrastructure results in benefits like reducing greenhouse gas emissions, limiting pollution's negative impacts on people and the environment, creating healthier communities, and building better regional connectivity with positive economic benefits. Read community highlights.

Active Wisconsin encourages local communities and groups working on active transportation projects to join this statewide effort, so we can work together and share experiences and resources. To encourage this work, we host a recognition program called Wisconsin Active Together (WAT), which highlights and celebrates community and organizational biking, walking, and transit efforts.
